The series THE BEST IS YET TO COME transports us into the world of the dolce vita of elegant middle-aged women.
Nina Nolte portrays them with artfully tied turbans, in the SPA with a bathrobe or pensively with a large hat and Hermès bag.
All of them seem to belong in the 50s.
Nina Nolte came up with the idea for these thoughtful works of art in Marbella when she met friends cooling off in the pool.
She soon accompanied her friends’ intimate conversations with her camera andvarious props,
only to later compile the photos into sketches for future works.
The series “The Best Is Yet To Come” which is Nina Nolte´s current life motto illustrates moments from ladies of her age, the so called best agers.
The voyeuristic view from above is intended. In fact, Nina wants the spectator to feel like he is observing these women and secretly witnessing their conversations. These private moments of women being together and talking about their life, the past, the present as well as the future while being aware that half of our life lays now behind them.
For some of these women it´s an opportunity to experiment new adventures whether they have the financial resources or whether they have the courage to start something new. In a context where the kids have left home and sometimes the husband too, everything appears as new challenge : What are we going to do during the rest of our life ?
Some of them like the lady in her cabriolet illustrated through “I’ll Remember April” already made a decision. Autobiographical?
P.S. The lady in the cabriolet titled I´LL REMEMBER APRIL can now be visited in the MAC Museum in Singen/ Germany. The artwork forms part of the museum´s collection.
