ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Pop Art MANOLETE´S TIMELESS TRIUMPH piece captures the essence of the iconic Spanish bullfighter Manolete, adorned in his renowned “Traje de luces” or Suit of Lights. Born in 1917 in Córdoba, Manolete’s early life was marked by the loss of his father at the age of five, yet his fascination with bullfighting, a tradition passed down from his ancestors, grew from childhood.
In 1939, the Real Maestranza bullring in Seville witnessed Manolete’s ceremonial elevation to the rank of Matador, setting the stage for a successful period from 1940 to 1944. Despite his achievements, he chose to retire voluntarily in 1946.
Tragically, during a bullfight in Linares in 1947, Manolete sustained a fatal injury, leaving a lasting impact on Spain and Latin America. The nationwide mourning and posthumous honors underscored his significance beyond bullfighting, making him a key figure in post-war Spain and a mass idol not only in his homeland but also in Mexico.
The artwork pays homage to a celebrated 1997 portrait of Manolete, measuring 170 x 90 cm (67 x 35 inches), painted with acrylic on canvas. This new Pop Art creation from 2023, crafted on Nina Nolte’s drawing board, offers an opportunity to acquire a piece that reflects the enduring legacy of this cultural icon, available in three different sizes.

THE OPTIMAL SIZE FOR YOUR ARTWORK
When selecting the optimal size for your artwork, aim for it to occupy 4/7 to 3/4 of the available wall space. Simply measure your space in centimeters or inches, then multiply by 0.6 to 0.75. For instance, with 270 cm (105”) of space, an artwork with a width of 160 cm (63”) would be an ideal fit.
We offer three standard sizes: Small, Medium, and Large, with personalized sizes available upon request. Contact us for more information.
