THINGS AINT AS THEY USED TO BE

THINGS AINT AS THEY USED TO BE by Nina Nolte

For the past five years, Nina Nolte has been producing digital artworks, embracing the endless creative possibilities that new technologies offer artists. Her process often involves intricate compositions with up to forty layers, akin to screen printing on a tablet.

One of her notable pieces, THINGS AINT AS THE USED TO BE was crafted in 2020 using her WACOM tablet. This artwork transports us to a lively court dance during the reign of the French Sun King Louis XIV, accompanied by the music of contemporary legends Elton John and Mick Jagger. Kermit, a beloved member of the Muppet Show, strums his banjo alongside them, while Louis Armstrong’s trumpet adds a captivating melody.

In this imaginative scene, Nina Nolte herself twirls with icons like James Dean, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, and Gina Lollobrigida. On the right, King Louis stands beside a basket of empty Moet Chandon bottles, with a backdrop featuring a fresco reminiscent of Michelangelo’s The Birth of Adam. It’s a whimsical reflection on the changing times.

THE OPTIMAL SIZE FOR YOUR ARTWORK

Choosing the right size for your artwork is crucial. Ideally, it should occupy 4/7 to 3/4 of the available wall space. Measure your space in centimeters or inches and multiply by 0.6 to 0.75. For instance, if you have 270 cm (105”) of space, a piece with a width of 160 cm (63”) would be a perfect fit.

We offer three standard sizes: Small, Medium, and Large, with custom sizes available upon request.

SIZES

Small 70 x 100 cm – 27.5 x 39.5", Medium 80 x 120 cm – 31.5 x 47", Large 110 x 160 cm – 43.5 x 63"
